Each criterion has a score value and a colour.
Colours are Green, Yellow, and Red.
Green means that the criterion is good and meets the draught quality standard.
Yellow denotes an issue.
Red denotes a severe or repeated issue.
There are three numerical values (scores) per criterion; these are assigned to the colour. The entire assessment is scored out of 100.
Example:
Couplers score 5 for green, 2 for a yellow, and -1 for a red.

The figures in brackets after the criterion name are the score values. For Couplers it is (5/2/-1).
For a full list of the criteria and why we check them, see the Criteria Detail article.
Reds
Reds are considered a serious problem. With Couplers, severe growth on more than 25% of the couplers in the walk-in would be considered a red.
Repeated Issues
Repeated issues are red, meaning that if couplers have scored yellow for 2 or more visits, they may be scored red on the next visit. Reds get attention and are used to create action.
Overall Score
Your overall score is calculated by adding up the scores for all criteria in the assessment.
There are serious negative red scores: Glasswasher Chemicals, Obstruction-Free Kegs, and Brand Compliance.
Glasswasher Chemicals
If the glasswasher is running without detergent or sanitiser, that is a serious issue and is scored either -10 for one container empty or -20 for both empty.
Obstruction-Free Kegs
If a container of raw protein (chicken, for example) is stored on top of a keg, that is a cross-contamination issue and is scored accordingly (-10).
Brand Compliance
Having one mis-matched brand (incorrect brand of beer running through the line - tapped keg of Bud on the Bud Light line) is -5 points. Two instances of a Brand Compliance issue is scored -10.
Green = Zero
There are several criteria in which a green is valued at 0 points. These criteria are not found in every establishment (Example: Molson Sub Zero system or a Direct Draw cooler). These criteria are worth 0 points, so if an establishment doesn’t have one, it is neither an advantage nor a disadvantage.
For establishments that do have one, they lose points if there is an issue, but do not receive any additional points for having one. This keeps the playing field level.
Total Assessment Colour
In addition to the score, assessments are also given a colour.
Typically, colours are based on the score using this scale:

Any Red Is A Red
The exception to that score scale is that any red is a red. Meaning that if everything was scored green, but Couplers were a severe issue and scored a red, the assessment would receive a red 94.
A Note On Beer Gas Scoring
When we onboard the establishment, we evaluate the gas system and assign it a score. That score does not change because most establishments never change their gas systems.
If the establishment is using a blend of gas with at least 50% CO2 for their non-nitrogenated brands (most beer) and a blend of 25% CO2 for their Nitrogenated brands (Guinness, Kilkenny, Smithwicks,…) then they receive five points.
If the establishment uses 25% CO2 across all brands (“Guinness Gas”), they receive zero points for gas.
Using an Air Compressor results in -20, but we won’t accept anyone using an air compressor in the program. Nobody receives a red for gas more than the first assessment. They either upgrade or we don’t continue.
After the first assessment, the Gas score is hidden in the results as it never changes.
If you have all greens (no issues) but only score 95, it is because you are using the incorrect gas (or were when we onboarded you) and are receiving 0/5 points for gas.
